Po poročanju avstrijske tiskovne agencije APA se je nesreča v Avstriji zgodila tik po 7. uri zjutraj, ko se je iztiril vlak, eden od vagonov pa je pri tem padel v reko. Nesreča se je zgodila v bližini deželne meje med Solnograško in avstrijsko Štajersko.
V času nesreče naj bi bilo na vlaku po poročanju avstrijskega časnika Kronen Zeitung 54 šolarjev ali dijakov.
Po podatkih Rdečega križa je bilo pri tem lažje poškodovanih 17 ljudi. Štiri osebe so odpeljali v bolnišnico.
Neurje krivo za nesrečo?
Vzrok za nesrečo še ni znan. Po navedbah pristojnega poveljnika reševalcev Antona Schilcherja bi lahko bilo nedavno neurje krivec za nesrečo, saj bi lahko na tirih ležala kakšna ovira, kot je korenina drevesa, kar bi lahko povzročilo iztirjenje vlaka.
Vlak je bil na poti iz avstrijske Štajerske v mesto Tamsweg na Solnograškem.
